  • The law firm was originally established in Gary, Indiana in August 1986 as the firm of King & Meyer. James B. Meyer and Scott L. King, having worked together as Lake County prosecutors and as Assistant United States Attorneys, combined their individual experiences, talents, reputations and energy, to build their law firms in Gary by 1987. The firm has been at its present location, 363 S. Lake Street in the Miller section of Gary, since 1991 and has continued its commitment to providing quality legal representation in a broad variety of civil matters. In 1996, Attorney King left the firm to become the Mayor of Gary.

Under the leadership of James B. Meyer, we continue the commitment to providing quality legal services. With over 25 years of legal experience in numerous areas, Attorney Meyer now concentrates his practice in the representation of city and county government agencies. Through his representation of sanitary districts and other municipal utilities, he has developed knowledge and understanding in matters related to the Clean Water Act and other state and federal environmental regulations and has demonstrated the ability to work successfully with wastewater and solid waste governmental agencies.

Lenore L. Heaphey first came to the firm as a law clerk in 1994 and stayed with the firm after receiving her law degree. Attorney Heaphey brings her considerable life and employment experiences to her practice, making her an effective and compassionate attorney in the fields of bankruptcy, wills, landlord/tenant issues, personal injury and other personal legal matters.

James Meyer & Associates offers a variety of legal services to people, businesses and governmental agencies to meet their personal, family and business legal needs. We also provide a free initial consultation. Call for an appointment at (219) 938-0800 or e-mail us at jmeyer@jimmeyerlaw.com
